Broadway Springfest

Way down in Columbus, Georgia...

The history of Columbus, Georgia rolls through the past as long and smooth as the Chattahoochee River on which it rests. Known historically throughout the South for iron and cotton, this gateway to Georgia has grown into its own as a haven for the arts. Alongside this industrial and agricultural heritage grows a musical legacy resonant in the voice of Gertrude “Ma” Rainey - Mother of the Blues, the piano stylings of Blind Tom Wiggins, and the mellow refrain of the “Columbus Stockade Blues” written by Tom Darby and Jimmie Tarlton. These Columbus natives find themselves in the company of music royalty hailing from all corners of the great state of Georgia.

Columbus was home for 37 years, to an outdoor festival focused on the cultural heritage of fine art and traditional craftsmanship in this area. Recently, the festival fell on unforeseen hard times and organizers heavy heartedly chose to retire the event, turning it over to a new committee of planners. Inspired by history and invigorated by a burgeoning music scene both locally and throughout the State, the collective agreed that the best way to honor this great event and pay homage to the rich musical heritage of this community would be to begin a new tradition with music as the focus... and the Broadway SpringFest was born.

The Broadway SpringFest is a free music festival featuring a range of artists both local and regional whose individual styles are steeped in those genres made famous by so many Georgians.

The SpringFest also breathes new life into the art and craft festival element by serving as a springboard venue for Georgia Made Georgia Grown, an initiative spearheaded by The Tourism Foundation at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. The goal of the program is to present to Georgians and visitors to the State where to Buy Georgia Made and Serve Georgia Grown.

Help celebrate a wellspring of music and art in this lively family environment. Music, creativity, great food, and a large children’s area wait at Columbus’ own, Broadway SpringFest!
